Bible Reading : John 10:10

Thieves come only to steal and kill and destroy; I come, so that they may have life, and have it in abundance."

Everyone longs for a full, complete, and meaningful life. The Bible emphasises that the longing is not something wrong, because God himself wants His people to live in abundance. John 10:10 emphasises that a life of abundance is part of God's plan for every believer. An abundant life includes three aspects of life (physical, soul, and spirit) that are interrelated and must be maintained in a balanced manner.

Taking Care of the Body for an Abundant Life

The abundance of life is first reflected through physical health. As a person who was created by God to be a helper, women need to maintain their body health so that they can carry out their roles properly. A healthy body allows a person to be active, serve, and carry out responsibilities well. Physical health does not happen by chance, but is the result of wise life management.

Bìng cóng kǒu rù, which means disease enters through the mouth, is a Chinese proverb that reminds the importance of regulating diet. The Word of God also teaches the principle of a simple and balanced life. In the Lord's Prayer it is written, "Give us today our food that is the fertiliser"(Matthew 6:11). This verse emphasises the importance of adequate attitude and self-control, including in terms of eating and drinking. In fact, Proverbs 23:2 reminds humans to be able to restrain their excessive appetite.

Keeping the Soul with a Calm Mental

In addition to the body, God also wants abundance in the soul. A healthy soul is characterised by calmness, a sense of sufficiency, and an attitude of gratitude. Many of life's problems are actually rooted in inner anxiety, fear, and dissatisfaction.

The abundance of the soul arises when a person learns to accept life with gratitude and not to be exaggerated by excessive desires. A sense of suffiency frees humans from envy, anxiety, and social pressure. An abundant soul is able to face life's challenges with a positive attitude, not easily offended, and not controlled by fear.

The Bible teaches that a cheerful heart is a powerful medicine. A mind filled with thanksgiving and hope for God will produce inner tranquillity. A healthy soul also has a positive impact on the family, because the tranquillity of parents will foster a sense of security for children and those around them.

Keeping the Spirit for a Fruitful Life

True abundance reaches its peak in spiritual life. An abundant spirit will influence the way a person behaves, speaks, and makes decisions. The Bible reminds every believer to live with a burning spirit and faithfully serve God.

Spiritual growth produces a character that is increasingly similar to Christ: more patient, humble, forgiving, and loving. Human imperfection is not a hinderance when life is lived in surrender to God, because only Jesus Christ is perfect. With an abundant spirit, service is not done by compulsion, but with joy.

May every Bethel woman always maintain a balance of life before God by maintaining physical health, peace of mind, and spiritual growth. Through an organised, grateful, and life based on God's word, the Bethel woman is expected to be able to carry out her role as a helper, role model, and peacemaker for the family, church, and society, so that God's name is glorified through an abundant life.
