The GBI Mawar Saron was established on 25 February 1978 in Central Jakarta when Rev. Dr. Jacob Nahuway, MA returned after completing his Master of Arts degree in Church Growth in South Korea.
Starting with a congregation of no fewer than twenty people, it grew to hundreds, then thousands, leading the church to move locations as it didn't yet have a permanent place of worship. This continued until 19th December 1992, when a plot of land measuring 9870 m² was purchased in Kelapa Gading Permai, North Jakarta, which has remained the permanent location to this day. Various buildings and facilities have since been constructed to meet the needs of the congregation and the general public.
On 2nd February 2021, Rev. Dr. Jacob Nahuway, MA passed away to be with the Lord, and Rev. Yohannes Nahuway, M.Th was entrusted to continue the shepherding and was ordained by the synod of the Bethel Church of Indonesia on 25th February 2021.
GBI Mawar Saron has been a home for thousands of people to know the love of Christ and experience God's visitation every day, week, month, and year after year. Currently, GBI Mawar Saron has church branches in the Bekasi, Bogor, Tangerang, and Lampung regions, as well as in the Netherlands and Italy.
GBI Mawar Saron actively participates in social activities to help the surrounding community and serves as a venue for the community to hold various social activities at the sub-district, district, and even city levels of North Jakarta.
Rev. Yohannes Nahuway, M.Th has been the Senior Pastor of GBI Mawar Saron since February 25, 2021, taking over from Rev. Dr. Jacob Nahuway, MA, who passed away on February 2, 2021.
Currently, Rev. Yohannes is entrusted with the role of Head of the Evangelism Department of the Indonesian Bethel Church Synod for the 2023-2027 period, and is entrusted as a Board Member of Church Growth International and Asia Christian Leaders Summit, as well as being an official in the Asian Missions Association. Rev. Yohannes is active in many missionary activities both domestically and internationally.
Having been active in ministry since 1999 and participating in various domestic and international networking activities, along with study experiences in China and the United States, has broadened his insight as a visionary and broad-minded pastor, leading GBI Mawar Saron to experience various advancements and developments to become a blessing for Indonesia and the world.
Rev. Yohannes has a wife, Mrs. Silka Dermawan, and three sons, named Jaden, Jethro, and Jeremias.

Women's Worship is held online every Tuesday at 10:00 AM WIB to provide guidance for all women, whether married or not, so they can become capable women and a blessing to their families.
Mid-week equipping sessions online every Thursday at 5:00 PM WIB and every Friday at 5:00 PM WIB to equip you to achieve maximum living.
A variety of activities are held for the congregation to grow in the knowledge of Christ, to achieve Christ-like character, and to be soul-winners.
