Entering a new year always brings new hope. Many people set resolutions, targets, and dreams. However, not a few people forget that the future is not only determined by a plan, but also determined by the seeds that were sown from the beginning. The Word of God reminds us that human life runs under the principle of sowing. So, the new year is not just about opening a new page, but about choosing the right "field" to sow life: flesh or spirit.
Sowing in the meat often seems promising at the beginning, but harbours a destructive "consecuence". The desire of the flesh makes humans live reactively, following the impulses of emotions, lust, and self-interest. A lifestyle like this easily traps a person in meaningless busyness, broken relationships, and recurring inner conflicts. Life that is sown in the flesh finally makes humans feud with themselves to pursue freedom, but instead lose peace.
On the contrary, sowing in the Spirit from the beginning of the year brings a strong foundation for a healthy and balanced life. A life led by the Spirit produces real fruit of the Spirit in everyday life: love in relationships, joy in the midst of pressure, peace in the midst of uncertainty, and self-control in every decision. Sowing in the Spirit helps us make peace with the past, live today wisely, and meet the future with hope. This is true abundance that does not depend on circumstances, but grows from within.
Starting a new year by sowing in the Spirit means choosing a life oriented towards the Kingdom of God. Sowing seeds in the Spirit is done through carrying out spiritual discipline such as reading the word, praying, fasting, and worshipping faithfully. When doing these things, we are sowing the seeds that will grow in the right place. The abundance that God provides is not only about having more, but about a life that is more meaningful and becomes a blessing for others.
